This four-track demo represents the newest work from Peter Stone, a.k.a. Bat of Xorcist and his wife Sunshine (also known as Evol Twin). Diode Fetish is not a side-project however, and will be presented as an entity of it’s own.

Secret Life stalks with an engine-like beat and edgy electronics, with Stone’s voice distorted into a robotic growl which creates a nice dichotomy with Sunshine’s operatic singing. Not unlike Die Form, which seems to be a direct reference point for Diode Fetish. Like Scorched Blood with female vocals, Secret Life is the prominent track on the demo, and certain to be a club staple soon. The Die Form influence appears stronger with Mask, which incorporates harsh and minimal electronics, to which Sunshine sings like a dominatrix angel. Stone’s music spits and seethes with electrical wrath, and the beats are coldly economical. IPEX glides on a tenebrous synthline and pulsing beats while maintaining a minimal structure. Vocals are sampled, distorted and in other languages, while the only other vocalisations come from sampled choir singing. Some of Attrition’s work is suggested in this track. The demo is finished with Keevar, an engaging instrumental, full of dark future atmospheres, multi-ranged technoid beats and scattered voice samples.

The first two tracks revel in S&M fetishism and the latter two are pure electronic scores, highlighting both the diode and fetish sides of this new project. While Diode Fetish sound a mix of Xorcist, Die Form and Attrition (with a bit of Doubting Thomas in Keevar), the end results are purely original. Stone and Sunshine take some brilliant points of reference and influence to create a completely unique and stunning sound of their own, bringing some of the best over-looked sounds in the genre together. This is an accomplished and intelligent release, showcasing some of Stone’s best work to date; hopefully label support will not be long in coming to the project.
